LCD-RDAB conducts strategic planning workshop

The Land Classification Division (LCD) of the NAMRIA Resource Data Analysis Branch (RDAB) conducted a two-day strategic planning workshop on the implementation of the division's projects in 2024. The activity, with the approval of NAMRIA Administrator, Usec. Peter N. Tiangco, PhD, was held at the Morong Star Hotel and Resort in Morong, Bataan on 05-06 October 2023.
 
The workshop was organized specifically to create a plan for the implementation of LCD projects for next year. The projects include the LC survey of ten unclassified public forest (UPF) sites, the quality assessment of target provinces for the Support to Parcelization of Lands for Individual Titling project, and the digital replotting of LC maps. The activity also served as a venue to strategize for the punctual accomplishment of the LCD targets.
 
LCD Chief, For. Beata D. Batadlan formally welcomed all the participants to the workshop. She highlighted in her message the division's significant role in surveying the remaining UPF sites in the country and in producing accurate and reliable LC maps. She also spoke of the workshop as a great opportunity for LC personnel to bond as a team.
 
In her message, RDAB Officer in Charge (OIC)-Dir., For. Sylvia L. Esperanza encouraged everyone to contribute to the success of LCD's projects. She also urged them to take part in the sustainable goals of the agency. Of the goals in relation to the UPF project, she said "no UPF areas will be left unclassified." While of the goals of the government as a whole, she said "no one will be left behind by 2030."
 
Engr. Renato P. Esperanza, OIC of the Field Survey and Mapping Section-LCD, discussed the overview and the objectives of the LCD projects. He then presented the detailed timeline of activities, including budgetary requirements and the individual assignments of LCD personnel. At the end of his presentation, team leaders were given the opportunity to share their insights and commitments with regard to next year's field activities.
 
OIC-Deputy Administrator (DA) for RDAB and the Geospatial Information System Management Branch, Engr. Ofelia T. Castro gave the closing remarks. She thanked all the LC teams for conducting the activity to ensure the success of the division's target activities for 2024. She also encouraged them to finish the LC survey of the remaining unclassified public forests in the country by 2030 or earlier.
 
RDAB Assistant Director, For. Violeta A. Quiliza; Geospatial Integration Division (GID) Chief Estela C. Gumabon; and Physiography and Coastal Resources Division (PCRD) Chief, For. Aurea O. Virtudazo also participated in the activity.
