NAMRIA, led by Administrator, Usec. Peter N. Tiangco, PhD, joined the month-long celebration of the 123rd Philippine Civil Service Anniversary (PCSA) through the conduct of various activities. The observance, which ran for the whole month of September 2023, carried the theme Transforming Public Service in the Next Decade: Honing Agile and Future-Ready Servant-Heroes with a thematic focus on the importance of cultivating dynamism.

The kickoff program was held on 04 September 2023 at the NAMRIA Lecture Hall. Administrator Tiangco, in his inspirational message, mentioned the agency's pursuit of digital transformation and innovation because "our work is ever evolving" and it is important "to update our skill sets and assess the ways we approach work."

The program began with the prayer and the Philippine national anthem both sung by the NAMRIA Chorale. Then followed the recitation of the following: the Panunumpa ng Katapatan sa Watawat ng Pilipinas and the Panunumpa ng Lingkod Bayan respectively by Geospatial Information System Management Branch (GISMB) Officer in Charge (OIC)-Asst. Dir. Arlene B. Brillantes and DA Efren P. Carandang; the NAMRIA Mission, the NAMRIA Vision, and the NAMRIA Service Pledge respectively by Mapping and Geodesy Branch (MGB) OIC-Asst. Dir. Brian A. Dela Cruz, Resource Data Analysis Branch (RDAB) Asst. Dir. Violeta A. Quiliza, and OIC-DA Ofelia T. Castro. The Credo of the Public Servant of former Civil Service Commissioner Amado T. del Rosario was read by Support Services Branch (SSB) Dir. Concepcion A. Bringas, MGB Dir. Ruel DM. Belen, GISMB Dir. Febrina E. Damaso, Hydrography Branch (HB) OIC-Dir., Capt Antonio G Valenzuela, Jr., and RDAB OIC-Dir. Sylvia L. Esperanza. The PCSA activities were announced by Administrative Division-SSB OIC-Chief, Atty. Jessie M. Racimo. The program officially ended with the singing of the NAMRIA and DENR hymns by the NAMRIA Chorale.
As part of NAMRIA's 123rd PCSA celebration and in support of its initiatives on mental health, the agency conducted virtual and face-to-face fun runs/walks, Zumba dance sessions, and Aerobic Kickboxing exercises on 06-30 September 2023. The participants who completed the five- and the three-kilometer-distance fun run/walk each received a finisher's shirt and virtual badge. The participants who completed the Zumba and Aerobic Kickboxing sessions each received a Zumba shirt and a virtual badge. The events were organized and facilitated by the NAMRIA Active Group, with the support of the NAMRIA Morale and Welfare Program sub-committee on Health and Wellness.

Other activities of the 123rd were webinars on the following topics: NAMRIA Pre-retirement Program: Coping Flexibility through Proper and Affordable Nutrition, Common Ailments Among Older Adults Prevention and Management, NAMRIA Onboarding Program: Orientation for New Employees, NAMRIA Awareness Program: Towards Agile and Future-Ready Organization, and Values Orientation Program: Creating a Positive Professional Image. There were also a NAMRIA Bazaar and Family Day 2023 of the NAMRIA Day Care Center.

The culminating activity for NAMRIA's 123rd PCSA celebration was conducted on 25 September 2023 at the NAMRIA Covered Court. It consisted of two parts: the oath-taking ceremony for the newly hired and newly promoted employees, led by Administrator Tiangco, and the Program on Awards and Incentives for Service Excellence (PRAISE) awarding ceremony. SSB Director Bringas, also Morale and Welfare Program Chairperson, opened the program with her welcome message. As the PRAISE Vice-Chairperson, she also delivered a message on behalf of PRAISE Chairperson, Captain Valenzuela. The PRAISE awarding ceremony conferred Loyalty Awards, Service Awards, Career and Self Development Awards, Employee Suggestion/Innovation Awards, On-the-Spot Awards, Kakaiba Ka Awards, Special Awards, and 5s Awards. The On-the-Spot Awards were won by the NAMRIA survey vessel, Barko ng Republika ng Pilipinas HYDROGRAPHER VENTURA, which detected the sunken Motor Tanker PRINCESS EMPRESS in March 2023; the Pag-asa Island Survey team of HB for data gathering in the area; and the team of Engr. Charisma Victoria D. Cayapan that installed the geodetic station, also in Pag-asa Island.

In his inspirational message for the culminating activity, Administrator Tiangco said that celebrations may end but remembering and appreciating our work as government employees should go on even after the month-long celebration.
