NAMRIA holds webinar on tidal observation for 2023 NDRM celebration

With the approval of NAMRIA Administrator, Usec. Peter N. Tiangco, PhD, and in line with the celebration of the 2023 National Disaster Resilience Month (NDRM), NAMRIA conducted a webinar entitled "The Role of Tidal Observation in Disaster-Risk Reduction and Mitigation." The activity was held in Google Meet and livestreamed via the agency's official YouTube channel on 27 June 2023.

Mr. Dennis Arsenio B. Bringas, Chief of the Physical Oceanography Division (POD)-Hydrography Branch (HB) and Lt. May Anne L. Javier, Deputy Chief of the Maritime Affairs Division (MAD)-HB served as the resource persons for the webinar. Their discussions consisted of the following topics: an overview of POD and its functions, classes and roles of tides, natural disaster statistics in the Philippines, disaster risk reduction and mitigation, and NAMRIA's newly-launched Philippine Tides (PH Tides) mobile application. The activity also included the showing of the NAMRIA audio-visual presentation and a question-and-answer session.
 
Mr. Jeffrey A. Quodala of the Geospatial Information Services Division (GISD)-Geospatial Information System Management Branch (GISMB) served as the activity lead and facilitator for the webinar. Mr. Jeffrey M. Aguillon of GISD-GISMB and Mr. Erwin D. Famatiga of the Geospatial Database Management Division (GDMD)-GISMB served as technical and support staff.
