NAMRIA Board of Governors meeting held

NAMRIA hosted the NAMRIA Board of Governors (BOG) meeting held at the NAMRIA Boardroom in Fort Andres Bonifacio, Taguig City on 31 May 2023. The meeting was attended by the members of the board and their designated alternates.
 
DENR Secretary and BOG Chairperson Maria Antonia Yulo-Loyzaga was represented in the meeting by Usec. Analiza Rebuelta-Teh and Usec. Augusto D. Dela Peña. Undersecretary Teh acted as Chairperson and presided over the meeting. NAMRIA was represented by Usec. Peter N. Tiangco, PhD, Administrator and NAMRIA Board Secretary. The other NAMRIA BOG representatives present were Atty. Manuel Anthony S. Tan, Undersecretary for Infrastructure Management and Support Services of the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT); Asec. Leonel Cray P. De Velez, Assistant Secretary for Planning and Project Development of the Department of Transportation (DOTr); Dr. Gina P. Nilo, Director, Bureau of Soils and Water Management of the Department of Agriculture (DA); Ms. Rowena Tatad, Executive Assistant to Undersecretary for Strategic Assessment and Planning Ignacio B. Madriaga of the Office for Strategic Studies and Strategy Management; and LTC Jerson P. Paglinawan of the Philippine Army, Department of National Defense.
 
The other NAMRIA officials present during the meeting were DA Efren P. Carandang; OIC-DA Ofelia T. Castro; Chief of Staff, Ms. Rowena E. Bongalos; Support Services Branch (SSB) Dir. Concepcion A. Bringas; Geospatial Information System Management Branch Dir. Febrina E. Damaso; Hydrography Branch Officer in Charge-Dir., Capt. Antonio G. Valenzuela, Jr.; Resource Data Analysis Branch OIC-Dir. Benjamin P. Balais; Administrative Division-SSB Chief, Atty. Jessie M. Racimo; and Policy and Planning Division-SSB Chief, Ms. Xenia R. Andres.
 
The board meeting opened with a formal introduction of the new members. This was followed by the showing of the NAMRIA audio-visual presentation, which featured the agency's mission and vision, core functions, and mandates. Undersecretary Tiangco, following the approved agenda, then presented the Management Report on Accomplishments/Updates on NAMRIA Programs/Activities/Projects, and Organizational Milestones.
 
After the report, DOTr Assistant Secretary De Velez informed the board of the planned Memorandum of Agreement between NAMRIA and DOTr on capacity building and sharing of information. He also discussed the DOTr adoption of standards for surveying, underscoring that these survey standards will be beneficial to their transportation infrastructure projects such as airports and ports. He also said that the DOTr is open for NAMRIA to use their facilities like airports, ports, and reference stations to establish Active Geodetic Stations.
 
Two NAMRIA policies were presented for adoption during the board meeting. These were: the proposed Executive Order (EO) establishing the Philippine Integrated Geospatial Information Management (PIGIM), and the NAMRIA Open Data Policy (ODP).
 
The board approved the resolution for the adoption of the NAMRIA ODP. On the other hand, the proposed EO on the Adoption of an Integrated Approach to Geospatial Information Management and Creation of an Inter-Agency Committee on Geospatial Information Management will be routed for vetting to the members of the proposed inter-agency committee for comments on the additional roles and responsibilities required of them.
