NAMRIA officially starts Women's Month 2016 celebration

NAMRIA officially started the month-long celebration of Women’s Month 2016 at the NAMRIA Fort Bonifacio, Taguig City grounds on 29 February 2016. NAMRIA Administrator, Dr. Peter N. Tiangco, CESO I, and NAMRIA Gender and Development Focal Point System (GFPS) Focal Person, Resource Data Analysis Branch (RDAB) Director Rijaldia N. Santos, Ph.D., led the officials and employees in the kick-off activity during the flag-raising ceremony.
 
This year’s theme “Kapakanan ni Juana, Isama sa Agenda!”  resonates the call for gender-balance in leadership and decision-making positions in both public and private sectors; inclusion of women’s concerns in leadership platforms and the government’s development agenda; and capacitate and prepare women and girls for them to realize their potentials.
 
The activity started off with the singing of Bukas Palad Music Ministry’s “Your Heart Today” by SN3 Jerry N. Lansangan of the Hydrography Branch.  Mapping and Geodesy Branch-Cartography Division Officer in Charge Brian A. Dela Cruz and Geospatial Information System Management Branch (GISMB) Director John Santiago F. Fabic recited the “Panunumpa ng Katapatan sa Watawat ng Pilipinas” and NAMRIA Quality Policy, respectively.  The NAMRIA Chorale led the singing of the “Lupang Hinirang” and DENR hymn “Inang Kalikasan, Ating Tahanan.”
 
GFPS Focal Person, Director Santos, thanked in her message the NAMRIA management for the support they are providing for the furtherance of gender equality and women empowerment in the agency.  She also encouraged the employees to avail for themselves all the activities lined up for the month-long celebration. NAMRIA Administrator Tiangco acknowledged in his inspirational message the importance of women in everyone’s life.  He also highlighted the contributions of the NAMRIA’s woman officials, managers, and supervisors in the attainment of the agency’s goals and objectives. He ended his message by assuring everyone that women’s concerns will be addressed and included in the development agenda of the agency.
 
In closing, the NAMRIA Chorale led the community singing of the official theme song of Women’s Month 2016, “Babae, Bumangon Ka!”  Ms. Xenia R. Andres of Support Services Branch and Mr. Jeffrey A. Quodala of GISMB acted as emcees of the program.
 
The kick-off activity coincided with the awarding to Administrator Tiangco by the Organization of NAMRIA Employees (ONE) of a plaque of appreciation for his invaluable support to the organization. ONE President Celeste E. Barile, Ph.D., led the executive board in presenting the plaque to Administrator Tiangco. Administrator Tiangco, in turn, thanked and congratulated ONE for partnering with the management in uplifting the employees’ morale and welfare.
