NAMRIA Administrator, Usec. Peter N. Tiangco, PhD approved NAMRIA’s participation in the celebration of the Subic Bay Metropolitan Authority (SBMA) 30th Foundation Anniversary through a gift-giving activity dubbed Give Love on SBMA Day. The event, organized by the Port Operations Group, was held aboard NAMRIA’s Barko ng Republika ng Pilipinas (BRP) HYDROGRAPHER PRESBITERO on 23 November 2022. It was attended by more than 35 participants including SBMA officials, and nine children with special needs and their guardians.

The first of the two-part Give Love on SBMA Day event was a program conducted at the vessel’s Mess Hall. Ens. Jason L. Mallapre kicked off the program with a presentation on NAMRIA and its hydrographers. The Chairperson and Administrator of SBMA, Rolen C. Paulino, shared his message with the participants and then led the gift-giving ceremony.

The officers of BRP HYDROGRAPHER PRESBITERO toured the participants inside the vessel for the second part of the event. Ltjg. Liezel P. Bastez showed and discussed in the Hydrographic Work Area the scientific equipment used for hydrographic surveys and the various maps produced by NAMRIA. Ens. Herman M. Legaspi explained at the Wheel House the different parts of the Integrated Bridge System. The participants were also able to take photos by the ship’s helm. The BRP HYDROGRAPHER PRESBITERO tour ended at the vessel’s forecastle deck, where souvenir photos were taken.
