NAMRIA’s 28th anniversary celebration

The officials and employees of NAMRIA, headed by Administrator Peter N. Tiangco, celebrated the agency’s 28th anniversary foundation last July 1 with the theme “In Great Shape @28”. The celebration began with a thanksgiving mass officiated by Rev. Fr. Baltazar A. Obico, OFM.
 

In his anniversary message, Administrator Tiangco spoke of the advocacy of the agency in promoting health and wellness among its employees. He cited Helen Keller who said that “Alone we can do so little, together we can do so much.” He explained the importance of teamwork and mentioned recent major achievements of NAMRIA to date which are proofs of the agency’s being a team player.

DENR Undersectary Manuel D. Gerochi gave the inspirational message in behalf of DENR Secretary Ramon J.P. Paje. He said that the work outputs of NAMRIA are most important tools in governance and the agency’s influence over the projects of other government agencies especially DENR is huge. He further said that NAMRIA has evolved into a very effective agency, proof of which is the agency’s ISO 9001:2008 certification.

The NAMRIA Gallery of Excellence was formally opened with Administrator Tiangco, DENR Assistant Secretary Corazon C. Davis, Philippines-Australia Human Resource and Organisational Development Facility Director Atty. Mark S. Flores, DA Jose C. Cabanayan Jr., and DA Efren P. Carandang taking part in the ribbon-cutting ceremony. Deputy Administrator Carandang presented to the guests the various awards and significant outputs of NAMRIA displayed on the walls of the gallery. He spearheaded the creation of the gallery with the GISD-GISMB.

The whole-day celebration also featured the recognition of the best employees of each branch, the service awardees, and the sportsfest winners. The Mapping and Geodesy Branch was the overall sportsfest champion. This year’s anniversary also marks the holding of the first ever Mr. and Ms. NAMRIA pageant with contestants from the different branches. This year’s Mr. and Ms. NAMRIA winners are P/Ensign Kurt Louis A. Montemor of Hydrography Branch (HB) and Ms. Liezl M. Lebornio of Resource Data Analysis Branch (RDAB), respectively. In the afternoon was held the NAMRIA’s Got Talent Singing Contest which had eight contestants from the different branches. This year’s champion is Ms. Paola Ruth R. Zapanta from HB.

Special numbers were provided by the NAMRIA Day Care Center, the NAMRIA Band, and GISMB officials. There were also raffle draws and a Best in Sportswear contest. Program emcees in the morning were Mr. Alex Leonard R. Garbo and Ms. Jzan Brie P. Galvez and in the afternoon, Mr. Jeffrey A. Quodala and Ms. Stephanie B. Daet.
