NAMRIA was awarded Fiscal Year 2022 Freedom of Information (FOI) Champion, under the category of Agencies/Bureaus/Commissions/Councils last 25 November 2022 via Facebook Live.

 

Administrator, Usec. Peter N. Tiangco, PhD accepted the agency’s prize during the awarding ceremony conducted by the FOI Program Management Office, Philippine Information Agency (PIA).

 

According to PIA, the conferment of the FOI Champion Award is "based on exemplifying and industry of the awardees who have brought their respective offices honor and recognition through excellence and distinction in the pursuit of ensuring the constitutional mandate of right to information."

 

In his acceptance speech, Administrator Tiangco stated that this award would have not been possible without the hard work and dedication of NAMRIA frontline personnel and technical staff, and expressed his gratitude for their diligent and prompt responses to the requests of the multitude of clients for various geospatial data. He said, "This service to our people is anchored in the core values that we adhere to in accomplishing our mandates—professionalism, transparency and accountability, innovation, efficiency, and partnership."

 

Aside from the FOI Champion Award, there were also the FOI Commitment to Excellence Award, FOI Recognition Award, and Plaque of Appreciation. Under the FOI Recognition, NAMRIA’s Ms. Zenaida A. Leaño was judged as Best FOI Officer awardee. The award is given to "individual/s from government agencies and institutions who have exemplified great progress and performance in the implementation of the FOI Program."
