The Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR) and NAMRIA, with the cooperation of fisheries stakeholders, conducted three cluster consultations on the draft guidelines for the delineation of municipal waters of municipalities with offshore islands in Davao City for the Mindanao Cluster, Cebu City for the Visayas Cluster, and Quezon City for the Luzon Cluster on 10 July 2019, 16 July 2019, and 23 July 2019 respectively.

Representatives from the various BFAR regional offices, office of the solicitor general, non-government organizations, academia, commercial fishing sector, fisherfolk, and local government units attended the cluster consultations.  NAMRIA was represented by Engr. Mario A. Princer, Ms. Hermielyn C. Sagucio, SN2 Elvirose A. Maycong, and Mr. Darius T. Quiming.

Engineer Princer discusses municipal water
delineation during the consultation in Cebu City.

During the three cluster consultations, Engr. Princer discussed the technical procedure and status of municipal water delineation/delimitation for the whole Philippines.  The NAMRIA representatives also provided inputs and comments on the draft guidelines.

The guidelines being drafted by BFAR, once approved and released by the Department of Agriculture, will be used by NAMRIA for the delineation/delimitation of the municipal water boundaries of municipalities with offshore islands.
