Continuing support for the Battle for Rivers and Esteros: NAMRIA joins waterways cleanup in Taguig

NAMRIA officials and employees led by Mapping and Geodesy Branch Director Ruel DM. Belen participated in the cleanup of waterways focusing on Conga Creek, Barangay  Hagonoy, Taguig City on 28 April 2019.  All of the five NAMRIA branches were represented in the cleanup.

The waterways cleanup is pursuant to Presidential Proclamation numbers 1482 and 1481, series of 2008, which declare the month of April and April 22 of each year as the Month of the Planet Earth and Philippine Earth Day (PED), respectively.  These two issuances authorize the conduct of the culminating activityfor the Month of the Planet Earth.  This year’s PED theme is “Protect Our Species.”  Last month, NAMRIA led the cleanup drive for the rivers and esteros of Taguig City.

The cleanup activities in Dreamland Subdivision, Barangay Hagonoy, Taguig City began and ended, respectively, with opening and closing programs.  The NAMRIA contingent was joined by volunteers from the Office of Taguig City, Solid Waste Management Office, Taguig Decloggers, barangay officials, and local residents.
 
Conga Creek is cleared of garbage following the cleanup.
