Growing roots, taking wings: NAMRIA featured in 2018 AODN learning event

The NAMRIA change and transformation journey with organization development (OD) as foundation was featured in Asia OD Network (AODN) Learning Event 2018 held at Bai Hotel, Mandaue City, Cebu on 24-26 October 2018.
With the theme “Asian OD: Roots and Wings,” the event was a summit of OD practitioners, organization leaders, and academicians from Asian countries.  It aimed to share current OD practices and discuss contextual nuances, challenges, and future directions of OD practice in the region.
The OD Practitioners Network Philippines, Inc. hosted the 270-delegation conference.  The session activities focused on the following thematic areas: OD in Asia, Organization Transformation, Evidence-Based OD Interventions, New Approaches in OD, and OD Tools and Skills Learning Session.

Administrator Peter N. Tiangco was represented by Support Services Branch Director Febrina E. Damaso who did the sharing in the Stories of Change and Transformation concurrent sessions.  The NAMRIA session was conducted on 25 October 2018 along with the topic on the Human Capital Transformation of Philippine Airlines (PAL).  The NAMRIA sharing covered the various OD-based initiatives the agency has undertaken for its change and transformation journey in order to grow roots, take wings, soar high, and glide forward, as defined in its presentation.

With Administrator Tiangco as change champion, OD efforts led NAMRIA to be recognized and awarded with distinctions such as ISO 9001:2015 Quality Management System Certification, Civil Service Commission Program to Institutionalize Meritocracy and Excellence in Human Resource Management Bronze Award, and Investors in People Accreditation until 2020. Moreover, the NAMRIA Strategic Planning was cited by the Philippines Australia Human Resource and Organization Development (HROD) Facility as one of the most successful HROD interventions it supported.
Other NAMRIA participants were Chief of Staff Rowena E. Bongalos, Assistant Director (Adir.) Ofelia T. Castro, Adir. Benjamin P. Balais, Survey Support Division OIC Cdr. Antonio G. Valenzuela Jr., and this writer.
