Belen, and his staff, went to Basco, Batanes on 8 May, 2017 to coordinate with the Batanes Provincial Government regarding the geospatial data and training requirements of its municipalities. During the meeting, they discussed the current capability and geospatial data needed by the different municipalities of Batanes in updating their Comprehensive Land Use Plan (CLUP), and Eco-Tourism Master Plan. Administrator Tiangco informed the Governor that NAMRIA has already high-resolution satellite imageries and large-scale digital topographic maps of Batanes that can be provided to the provincial government for free. The meeting was a follow-up to a previous visit of the mayors of Batanes in NAMRIA last March 2017. Tentative date for advance GIS training was set on first week of June 2017.
