NAMRIA dominates PMSEA Bowling Tournament 2016

NAMRIA once again proved its mastery in bowling by being the champion in the latest edition of the Philippine Mine Safety and Environment Association (PMSEA) Bowling Tournament. The tournament was held at Puyat Sports Baguio, 4th level Baguio Center Mall, Magsaysay Ave., Baguio City on 16 November 2016. The holding of the PMSEA Bowling Tournament is part of the 63rd Annual National Mine Safety and Environment Conference. The other participating teams were Benguet Corporation (BC) Teams A and B; Filminera Resources Corporation Teams 1 and 2; Irisan Lime Project (ILP) Teams A and B; Mines and Geosciences Bureau (MGB) Regions IV-A and VII; Oceana Gold Corporation; Philex Mining Corporation (PMC); Philippine Society of Mining Engineers-North Luzon Cluster (PSEM-NLC)-MGB Region I; Taganito HPAL (high-pressure acid leach) Nickel Corporation; and Timber Lime Multipurpose Cooperative.
 
The team from NAMRIA was composed of Mr. Noel R. Vega from the Support Services Branch; Mr. Manuel C. Eloriaga and Mr. Rogelio D. Dais, Jr. from the Mapping and Geodesy Branch; Ms. Elena A. Reyes from the Geospatial Information System Management Branch; and Ms. Gina M. Varilla of the DENR-Natural Resources Development Corporation.
 
The tournament officially started with the invocation and singing of the Philippine National Anthem by Engr. Marjorie C. Armia and Ms. May-Ann A. Pimentel of MGB Region I. In his welcome remarks, PSEM-NLC Board Director, Engr. Roel A. Collado of MGB Region I thanked the participants in the tournament. He also congratulated everyone for their continuous support in the activities of PMSEA. Team NAMRIA’s Ms. Varilla led everyone in the recitation of the “Oath of Sportsmanship” while Engr. Nandry Clae B. Lagman of MGB Region I served as emcee of the tournament.
 
With the combined total points of 2,261, after three grueling rounds of competition, NAMRIA bested the other 13 teams and won the coveted title of PMSEA Bowling Champions for 2016. NAMRIA also won five special awards, namely: Highest Team Single; Highest Men Single and Triple for Mr. Dais; and Highest Women Single and Triple for Ms. Varilla. The other winners were BC Team A, first runner-up; PSEM NLC MGB Region I, second runner-up; PMC, third runner-up; and ILP Team B, fourth runner-up. Congratulations Team NAMRIA and the other winners!
