The celebration of the Philippine Civil Service Anniversary (PCSA) for the whole month of September has been done since the 1900s.  The theme for this year’s PCSA is Transforming Public Service in the Next Decade: Honing Agile and Future-Ready Servant Heroes.

 

A webinar entitled How to Start a Career in Government through NAMRIA was conducted via YouTube live streaming on 14 September 2021 as part of the month-long PCSA celebration.  The event was implemented, through the approval and support of NAMRIA Administrator, Usec. Peter N. Tiangco, PhD, and was attended by a total of 271 senior high school and college students from different schools and universities in the Philippines.

 

The Opening Remarks was delivered by Support Services Branch (SSB) Officer in Charge (OIC)-Director Concepcion A. Bringas who expressed the hope that the webinar would create an understanding and appreciation of NAMRIA and the government service.  She also wished all the participants good luck in their respective careers.

The webinar started with the showing of the NAMRIA profile audio-visual presentation and was immediately followed by the lecture proper.  The featured lecture topics were an overview of NAMRIA, its uniformed service, and careers in the agency.  Mr. Marlon A. Mariñas, Media Production Specialist III of the Geospatial Information Services Division (GISD)-Geospatial Information System Management Branch (GISMB); Ens. Angelica B. Prado, OIC, Nautical Publication Section of the Maritime Affairs Division-Hydrography Branch (HB); and Ms. Agnes G. Radam, Administrative Officer V (Human Resource Management Officer III) of the Administrative Division-SSB, were the resource persons who respectively discussed the three topics.  There was a question-and-answer portion after the lectures.

GISMB OIC-Dir. Febrina E. Damaso concluded the event by thanking all the participants.  She expressed the hope that through the webinar, everyone was able to learn more about NAMRIA and about working in the government service.
