NAMRIA heeds the call of Hospicio de San Jose for donations
Volume XXXIII, Issue No. 14
By: Jeffrey A. Quodala

With the support of NAMRIA Administrator Usec. Peter N. Tiangco, the agency’s Bayanihang Bayan Desk (BBD) organized a donation drive for Hospicio de San Jose (HDSJ) in the City of Manila.  The management of HDSJ appealed to the public for donations during their lockdown last month, where several staff and residents tested positive for COVID-19.

NAMRIA supported the donation drive for cash and in-kind donations from 29 April to 07 May 2021.  The weeklong drive resulted in donations that amounted overall to almost Php 25,000 from employees and friends of the agency.  The cash donations were used to purchase fresh produce and groceries which were delivered in two batches, alongside in-kind donations.

The first batch of donations were handed over by Mr. Jeffrey A. Quodala of the Geospatial Information System Management Branch (GISMB) and BBD Focal Person at HDSJ, Ayala Bridge, City of Manila on 03 May 2021 while the second batch was turned over on 08 May 2021.  BBD volunteers, Ms. Arlene M. Balauro and Mr. Andy Nicolas G. Adeva of the Geospatial Information System Management Branch (GISMB); and Mr. Mark Elpher G. Puquiz of the Support Services Branch (SSB) accompanied BBD Officer Quodala during the delivery of the second batch.  Ms. Jessica A. Quodala of SSB was present during the deliveries of both batches.  Both deliveries were received by the staff of HDSJ.

In a related development, NAMRIA donated face masks and tablets of ascorbic acid to Ms. Aileen H. Argente of GISMB.  Ms. Argente has been personally distributing repacked facemasks to random individuals she encounters during her daily commute to and from NAMRIA.
