The Education and Research Committee of the Organization of NAMRIA Employees (ONE) conducted a one-day civil service eligibility examination review on 27 April 2015. It was held at the NAMRIA lecture hall and focused on the subjects of English and Mathematics.

Around 30 personnel from the Geospatial Information System Management Branch (GISMB); Mapping and Geodesy Branch; Resource Data Analysis Branch; and Support Services Branch of NAMRIA participated in the review. ONE President Dr. Celeste E. Barile welcomed and thanked the participants in attending the review and advised them to study hard and do their best in the actual examination to be held on 03 May 2015.

University of the Philippines (UP)-Diliman Professor Lalaine F. Yanilla-Aquino, Ph.D., and Ms. Fatima A. Santos of the Geospatial Systems Development Division (GSDD)-GISMB served as reviewers for English and Mathematics, respectively.

Dr. Aquino has a doctorate degree in Reading Education, a masteral degree in Comparative Literature, and an undergraduate degree in Imaginative Writing all from UP Diliman. She is currently an Associate Professor of the Department of English and Comparative Literature of the College of Arts and Letters of UP Diliman. Meanwhile, Ms. Santos has an undergraduate degree in Mathematics from UP Diliman and currently holds the position of Information Systems Analyst III under GSDD-GISMB.

Dr. Aquino taught vocabulary, identifying errors in a sentence, subject-verb agreement, and reading comprehension in the morning session while Ms. Santos focused on various numerical operations of mathematics including basic geometry and worded problems in the afternoon session.

In her closing remarks, ONE 1st Vice President Josefina G. Gaspi thanked the reviewers for their time and knowledge shared and for helping the participants cope with the pressures of the review and the examination. ONE Public Relations Officer Jeffrey A. Quodala acted as coordinator, facilitator, and master of ceremony of the activity.

The passing of the civil service eligibility examination is a crucial step toward establishing a career in government. Passers are entitled to either the Professional or Sub-Professional eligibility, which is a basic requirement - together with education, experience, and training - for permanent appointment in the career service.
