News & Event(s) | Jeffrey Quodala | 12 November 2018 | Print

NAMRIA conducted two corporate social responsibility (CSR) activities in October 2018. The first was done in line with the celebration of the 118th Philippine Civil Service Anniversary and the observance of the 15th Cerebral Palsy (CP) Awareness and Protection Week. The NAMRIA Bayanihang Bayan Desk (BBD) organized the Search for Mister NAMRIA Bayanihang Bayan (NBB) 2018, which aimed to raise cash donations to help individuals with CP and other motor-related disorders under the care of the Philippine Cerebral Palsy, Inc. (PCPI).

The search for Mister NBB 2018 raised more than a quarter of a million pesos and the amount was personally handed over by NAMRIA Administrator, Usec. Peter N. Tiangco to PCPI Executive Director Ruth A. Lachica in a simple ceremony held at the multipurpose covered court of NAMRIA in Fort Andres Bonifacio, Taguig City on 08 October 2018.

In her acceptance speech, PCPI Executive Director Lachica thanked NAMRIA for its generosity.  She assured everyone that the donation will be spent wisely and put into good use.

Another CSR activity was done in line with the observance of the 2018 National Week for Overcoming Extreme Poverty.  The NAMRIA BBD, in cooperation with the NAMRIA Youth Desk, went to Barangay Daraitan, Tanay, Rizal to hand over the agency and employee donations for flood victims.  The overflowing of the Daraitan River due to the heavy rains in August this year caused the flooding.  The turnover ceremony was held at the multipurpose covered court of Daraetan Elementary School (DES) in Brgy. Daraitan, Tanay, Rizal.

More than a hundred teachers and students of DES and members of the Dumagat tribe of Brgy. Daraitan were given brand-new school and office supplies, toiletries, and pre-loved clothes, bags, and home essentials. One of the highlights of the activity was the turnover of a pediatric wheelchair and crutches to students with disabilities/special needs.
