What is the difference between analog and digital maps?
An analog map is usually a paper map. Once you convert this map into a computer file or map (e.g. scanning), then it becomes a digital map. However, a digital map can be in raster or vector format. In raster format, the map is in pixel form and take the .jpg, .tif, .gif.or ,bmp extensions. On the other hand, in vector format, the map is composed of points, lines and polygons.
You can easily distinguish the difference between the two formats by zooming them. The raster will be pixelized, while the vector will retain the quality of the points, lines and polygon image.
