The NAMRIA has three (3) institutionalized national centers responsible in providing data, trainings and technical services to the public both in the government and non-government sectors.

The Geomatics Training Center (GTC) and the National Remote Sensing Center (NRSC) are located within the compound of the NAMRIA in Fort Bonifacio, Makati City, whereas the National Oceanographic Data Center (NODC) is in Binondo, Manila.

Section 01. Geomatics Training Center (GTC)

The GTC offers training courses related to Geographic Information System (GIS), Remote Sensing (RS), Global Positioning System (GPS), and other surveying, mapping and allied technologies employed by NAMRIA.

There are training courses for executives, middle managers and technical staffs. There are on-demand courses also like HTML - web based authoring, geographic information technology, oceanography and hydrography, mapping technician and advance remote sensing courses.

Please email OSS for more inquiries or contact at (63-2) 810-5466.

Section 02. National Remote Sensing Center (NRSC)

The NRSC serves as the archiving, processing and application center of remotely sensed data, such as satellite imageries.

The Center's specific functions pursuant to E.O. No. 192, are:

(1) to provide the operational digital image processing and remote sensing data requirements of NAMRIA, DENR and other government agencies and the private sector;

(2) to formulate and implement remote sensing project applications; and

(3) to integrate the use of geographic information systems (GIS) to remote sensing applications.

Below are sample data at the National Remote Sensing Center.

Spot image (raw & enhanced) - with 4 spectral bands, 20-meter resolution

Landsat Thematic Mapper - with 7 spectral bands, 30-meter resolution

Please email NRSC for more inquiries or contact at (63-2) 810-4831 loc. 460.

Section 03. National Oceanographic Data Center (NODC)

The NODC, a section within the Oceanographic Survey Division of Coast Geodetic Survey Department (CGSD), was established to acquire, process, store, archive and disseminate oceanographic data.

The Philippine NODC products and services are available for both local and foreign data exchange programs and may be provided for on a cost recovery basis in accordance with the guidelines and policies established by the NAMRIA.

At the NODC, there are less than a hundred MBT profiles; there are marine meteorological data sets observed hourly on board NAMRIA research/survey vessels for a long period of observation, and time-series of sea surface temperature and salinity at tidal/coastal stations. All these data are either in manuscript or digital form.

The following are the types of data holdings at the NODC:

(1) Oceanographic data actually observed by Filipino Scientists as a result of observations from cooperative projects.

(2) Data acquired through direct bilateral exchange with other countries and through the IODE system.

(3) Data observed by NAMRIA in the performance of its function as a hydrographic and oceanographic office of the government.

Current NODC data holding include measurements of water temperature, salinity and density, water analysis, ocean meteorology, bathymmetry, tides, tidal and ocean currents, BT data, etc. Data are available in forms, reports, publications and/or floppy disks.

Please email NODC for more inquiries or call at (63-2) 241-3494 loc. 105.

Geomatics is the discipline of gathering, storing, processing, and delivering of geographic information. This broad term applies both to science and technology, and integrates the following more specific disciplines and technologies:

geodesy, surveying, mapping, positioning, navigation, cartography, remote sensing, photogrammetry, geographic information systems, global positioning system

The NAMRIA Geomatics Training Center (GTC) offers courses on geomatics.
