By: Charisma Victoria Cayapan

To promote the use of the Philippine Active Geodetic Network (PAGeNet) in the government’s surveying and mapping activities, NAMRIA conducted a two-day forum last 17 - 18 January 2018 for the Land Management Bureau (LMB) and the Surveys and Mapping Division of the DENR regional offices.  A total of 40 participants from LMB and DENR participated in the said event which was held at the Fort Andres Bonifacio office of NAMRIA.

MGB Director Ruel DM. Belen, MNSA, welcomes the participants to the forum

The forum is intended to capacitate LMB and DENR’s technical personnel on how to access and utilize PAGeNet to improve their survey operations.  Participants took part in the lectures and field demonstrations organized by the Geodesy Division – Mapping and Geodesy Branch.  Discussions during the open forum highlighted the need for detailed guidelines and standards on the use of global navigation satellite systems (GNSS) for land surveys.  Likewise, the participants also called for a more dense distribution of active geodetic stations for better coverage of real time corrections in their respective localities.

The LMB and the DENR regional offices have been granted complimentary access to PAGeNet products and services.  The forum, together with the free access, are all part of the Modernization of the Philippine Geodetic Reference System initiative of NAMRIA.
