By: Charisma Victoria Cayapan

Good news to the geomatics and scientific community!

Starting 01 January 2018, RINEX* data from the Philippine Active Geodetic Network (PAGeNet) will be offered to the public for free.  This move is aimed at mainstreaming the use of PAGeNet products and services in various surveying and mapping activities of its stakeholders as part of the Modernization of the Philippine Geodetic Reference System (PGRS) initiative of NAMRIA.

Available data that are free for download are 30-second (2008 – present) and 15-second (2018 only) RINEX data. Higher frequency data, e.g. 1-second epoch, are still subject to the regular rate of PhP 50.00 per Mb of data.

Established in 2008, the PAGeNet now comprises of 38 active geodetic stations strategically located nationwide providing real time correction services and reference station data for improved accuracy of positioning and enhanced productivity of survey operations.  Efforts are now under way to densify the network to 200 stations by year 2025.

Users who are interested to avail of the free service are required to register to the PAGeNet website (http://pagenet.namria.gov.ph) and subscribe to its RINEX Download Service.  For questions/clarifications, please email the PAGeNet Group at pagenet@namria.gov.ph.
