NAMRIA joins DENR in celebrating its 30th Anniversary

NAMRIA joined the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) in celebrating its 30th Anniversary at the DENR main building in Visayas Ave. Quezon City on 09 June 2017. With the theme “DENR @30: Pagbubuklod para sa Kalikasan,” the daylong event started with a Thanksgiving mass at the DENR Social Hall. A Tree Planting activity along Heroes Park with DENR Secretary Roy A. Cimatu and contestants from the 2017 Ms. Earth Pageant soon followed.

In her opening remarks, Atty. Analiza R. Teh, Undersecretary for Climate Change Service, welcomed Sec. Cimatu as well as the past DENR secretaries and guests to the celebration. She also mentioned that to care for the environment, cooperation between the different bureaus and attached agencies of the DENR is needed.

The celebration also featured the turn-over of brand new vehicles to regional offices; awarding of plaques of recognition to former DENR Secretaries and Senior Bureau Directors (Mining, Forestry and Lands); and to former mayor of Piddig, Ilocos Norte, Edwardo Eddie G. Guillen, for his outstanding leadership in Piddig, Ilocos Norte during the implementation of the National Greening Program (NGP); and the Oath Taking of the Officials and Board Members of DENR Association of Career Executives (ACE), Inc.

In his anniversary message, Sec. Cimatu underscored that the theme is unity. He also said that we should rise above the threat that runs across us - our differences and divergent ways of seeing things and unite as one for the environment and for Mother Nature.

The lighter side of the celebration featured an Employees' Dance Showdown wherein participants from NAMRIA performed the Salsa dance. One of the judges mentioned that NAMRIA has one of the cleanest performance in the competition.

The highlight of the event is the awarding of winners from the DENR Inter-Bureau Sports Fest competition and Employees' Dance Showdown. NAMRIA emerged as the Overall Champion. The rest of the awards are as follows: Champion in Darts, Best Single in Darts, Best Double in Darts, MVP in Darts, 1st Runner up in Chess, Champion in Bowling, 1st Runner-up in Men’s Volleyball, Best Receiver in Men’s Volleyball, Best Spiker in Men’s Volleyball, 3rd Runner-up in Basketball, Champion in Table Tennis, Champion in Cycling, Champion in Marathon, and lastly, 2nd Place in Employees’ Dance Showdown.
